RACE TEAM FAQ’S
Do I need to be fast to join the Race Team?
No! We generally have runners breaking the tape at races but also proudly finishing in the last few spots. We believe that the front supports the back and the back supports the front.
When can I register?
Registration opens on January 1st each year. Your annual registration fee is good for the calendar year (1/1 through 12/31)
When does the Race Team meet?
With rare exceptions, Race Team members meet every Wednesday 6pm at Mill City Running for a coach guided workout. This can be anything from tempo runs, to hill repeats, to track sessions. The workout schedule is sent out in January.
How can I learn more about the Race Team Training Plan?
The Training Plan is focused on two 'peaks' throughout the year, the first being late spring/early summer and centered on either a Memorial Day 5K or Grandma's Marathon/Half. The fall peak is focused on Twin Cities Marathon and 10 Mile. These plans can be easily adapted to accomodate races earlier or later in the season and are able to be modified for all levels of running. Further, we host in-person and virtual Training Plan 101 sessions in January and February.
When can I pick up my uniform?
Our Race Team singlets generally arrive in early March, an email will be sent when they are ready for pick up.
Is there additional Race Team gear I can purchase?
Yes, every year we have a Race Team-exclusive apparel collection that we launch. This drop generally coincides with Kickoff Week in early March.
Do I need to live in the Twin Cities to be a part of the Race Team?
No! We've had Teammates from all over the US and even globally. Our only ask is that you're a good representative of the squad in your place of residence.
When does the Race Team have indoor track access?
In January and February Race Team members have complimentary access to the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse Indoor Track every Wednesday. The time varies by week.
Is there a certain number of races I'm required to run?
There is no participation requirement for the Race Team, but if not racing we always love to see Teammates out cheering or volunteering at the many local races we run.
