+ Is there a time standard to join the Race Team (i.e. is this only for 'fast' people?)
No! While we do generally have runners competing to break the tape at many races, you will also find Race Team members proudly finishing in the last few spots. Most of the Race Team falls somewhere in between those two positions! The motto that we founded the Team upon, and still believe to this day is the front supports the back and the back supports the front.
+ When does registration open for 2025?
Registration opens at midnight on January 1st. Your annual registration fee is good for the calendar year (1/1 through 12/31)
+ When does the Race Team meet?
With rare exceptions, Race Team members meet every Wednesday at Mill City Running for a coach guided workout. This can be anything from tempo runs, to hill repeats, to track sessions and will have all levels of runners working out at the same time.
+ How can I learn more about the Race Team Training Plan?
The Training Plan is focused on two 'peaks' throughout the year, the first being late spring/early summer and centered on either a Brian Kraft 5K (Memorial Day) or Grandma's Marathon/Half (June 21st). The fall peak is focused on Twin Cities Marathon and 10 Mile (October 5th). These plans can be easily adapted to accomodate races earlier or later in the season and are able to be modified for all levels of running.
+ When can I pick up my uniform?
Our Race Team singlets are distributed the first week of March, our Race Team Kickoff Week.
+ Is there additional Race Team gear I can purchase?
Yes, every year we have a Race Team-exclusive apparel collection that we launch. This drop generally coincides with Kickoff Week in early March.
+ Do I need to live in the Twin Cities to be a part of the Race Team?
No! We've had Teammates from all over the US and even globally. Our only ask is that you're a good representative of the squad in your place of residence.
+ When does the Race Team have indoor track access?
In January and February Race Team members have complimentary access to the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse Indoor Track on Wednesdays, the time varies by week and is communicated in the weekly email.
+ Is there a certain number of races I'm required to run?
There is no participation requirement for the Race Team, but if not racing we always love to see Teammates out cheering or volunteering at the many local races we run.
+ How much does it cost to join the Race Team?
$200
+ When does registration close?
We generally close Race Team registration for the year on July 1st.
+ I have my own coach, am I required to use the Team plan?
No! Many Teammates use their own program or coach. You are not required to use the Team plan.
+ Who are the Race Team coaches?
Andrea Haus, Paul Schmaedeke, and Maggie Bowman. All three are seasoned, certified coaches with too many combined PRs under their belts to count. With extensive knowledge spanning across track, cross country, and roads - they are excited to help you chase your next goal.
